CLASS PLACEMENT Class placement, promotions, casting, and company eligibility hinge on a student’s performance in class. Performance includes, but is not limited to, the progress, ability, physical limitations, maturity, age, and work ethic of the student. Students are evaluated by the instructors, choreographers, and the Artistic Director. It is important to note that placing a child in a class that is too advanced for them can actually delay progress and can also be hazardous. It is important to trust the decision of the directors. Placement is non-negotiable. Students are evaluated each May for placement the following September. Results are sent in late June/early July. Placement decisions are made on the assumption that students will continue to progress over the summer months. Any student whose level or technique has changed will be re-evaluated and moved to another level. In some cases, repeating a level will be necessary. NEW STUDENTS to Vonder Haar Center for the Performing Arts are welcome at any time during the year. New students will be evaluated after a placement class and placed in the appropriate level. Certain students may require private lessons on a short term basis to establish basic movement and vocabulary to be placed in an ongoing class. |
